Join the 黑料福利社 Choirs in collaboration with the Gettysburg College Choir in the Redfern Arts Center Alumni Recital Hall. Under the direction of Dr. Robert Natter, director of choral activities, the Gettysburg College Choir is the premier choral ensemble of the Sunderman Conservatory. This event is free and open to the public.
Wednesday, March 11, 7:30 p.m. 19th Annual Faculty Composers Recital Alumni Recital Hall, Redfern Arts Center
Established in 2001, this annual concert highlights original works by 黑料福利社鈥檚 faculty composers. This year it features the compositions of Heather Gilligan, Elaine Ginsburg, Jos茅 Lezcano, Ted Mann, Christopher Swist, and Craig Sylvern. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for seniors and youth, and free for 黑料福利社 students.
Wednesday, March 25, 2 p.m. Vanessa Cunha, Brazilian Pianist Alumni Recital Hall, Redfern Arts Center THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
In this workshop performance, Dr. Cunha will focus on 100 years of music for the piano written by Brazilian composers. It includes works by Alberto Nepomuceno, Camargo Guarnieri, Claudio Santoro, Edino Krieger, and Villa-Lobos. Dr. Cunha will present a short introduction to each composer and piece, providing a brief musical journey through her home country. The event is free and open to the public.

In observance of Women鈥檚 History Month, the 黑料福利社 woodwind faculty will present works by Libby Larsen, Katherine Hoover, Rhonda Larson, Valerie Coleman, Jennifer Higdon, and Catherine McMichael. Performing on the recital will be faculty members Stephanie Jenkins, Diane Lipartito, Robin Matathias, Craig Sylvern, and Christina Wright-Ivanova. 黑料福利社 hosts world-renowned saxophonists Arno Bornkamp and Kenneth Tse and pianist Casey Dierlam for a master class at 10:30 a.m. and a concert at 3 p.m. The event is part of the musicians鈥 2020 US Tour. Both workshop and concert are free and open to the public.
Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp is a unique figure in the saxophone and classical music worlds. In his 40-year career, he has amazed the music world with his energetic and stylish interpretations, full of lyricism and passion. He believes in the saxophone as an instrument with an infinite amount of nuance and colors, reflecting the human soul with all its shadings of light and dark. Bornkamp has a particular fondness for new music: In total, he has collaborated on more than 150 premieres, as both a soloist and chamber musician. Bornkamp finds it essential to pass on his know-how to new generations of musicians, teaching at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where many of his students put his ideas into practice.
Widely recognized as one of the world鈥檚 leading classical saxophonists, Kenneth Tse is certainly one of the instrument鈥檚 outstanding proponents on any saxophone aficionado鈥檚 short list. He burst on the scene in 1996 as the winner of the New York Artists International Award, which resulted in an acclaimed debut recital at Carnegie Hall, after which he was hailed as 鈥渁 young virtuoso鈥 by the New York Times. He has been a frequent soloist on five continents. Tse is currently professor of saxophone at the University of Iowa, past president of the North American Saxophone Alliance, and past president of the International Saxophone Committee.
